This corridor allows our country to connect to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transgaz.ro\/sites\/default\/files\/brosura_transgaz_varianta_finala.pdf\">regional transport corridors<\/a>, accessing natural gas transport routes from the Caspian Sea area to Central Europe. It also facilitates Romania's access to European markets, which is useful for the exploitation of natural gas resources in the Black Sea through projects carried out by the companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackseaog.com\/ro\/proiectul-mgd\/\">BSOG<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romgaz.ro\/despre-proiectul-neptun-deep\">Romgaz in collaboration with OMV Petrom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The BRUA project comprises several phases:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phase 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Construction of a natural gas transmission pipeline Podi\u0219or-Reca\u0219, with a length of 479 km, diameter of 32 inches (Dn 800) and design pressure of 63 bar.<\/li>\n<li>Construction of 3 natural gas compression stations (SCG Podi\u0219or, SCG Bibe\u0219ti and SCG Jupa), each station being equipped with 2 compression aggregates (one in operation and one in reserve), with the possibility of ensuring birectional gas flow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Phase 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Construction of a natural gas transmission pipeline Reca\u0219 - SMG Horia with a length of 50 km, diameter of 32 inches (Dn 800) and design pressure of 63 bar.<\/li>\n<li>Upgrading of the SCG Podi\u0219or, SCG Bibe\u0219ti and SCG Jupa compression stations, each station being equipped with an additional compression unit.<\/li>\n<li>Amplify SMG Horia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The route of the pipeline generally follows the SE-W direction and crosses the territory of Giurgiu, Teleorman, D\u00e2mbovi\u021ba, Arge\u0219, Olt, V\u00e2lcea, Gorj, Hunedoara, Cara\u0219-Severin and Timi\u0219 counties.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a href=\"\/en\/Surs\u0103 foto: Transgaz https:\/\/www.transgaz.ro\/ro\/despre-noi\/prezentare-companie\/galerie-foto\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" class=\"wp-image-6343\" src=\"https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/BRUA-Faza-2-viitorul-energiei-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/BRUA-Faza-2-viitorul-energiei-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/BRUA-Faza-2-viitorul-energiei-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/BRUA-Faza-2-viitorul-energiei-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/BRUA-Faza-2-viitorul-energiei-1536x1152.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/BRUA-Faza-2-viitorul-energiei.jpeg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo source: <a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.transgaz.ro\/ro\/despre-noi\/prezentare-companie\/galerie-foto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transgaz<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Phase 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the 3 Seas Initiative website, <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.3seas.eu\/projects\/brua-development-on-the-territory-of-romania-of-the-national-gas-transmission-system-along-the-corridor-bulgaria-romania-hungary-austria-(brua-phase-1-and-2)-and-enhancement-of-the-bidirectional-gas-transmission-corridor-bulgaria-romania-hungary-austria-(brua-phase-3)-and-the-development-on-the-territory-of-romania-of-the-southern-gas-transmission-corridor-for-taking-over-gas-from-the-black-sea-shore-(black-sea-podisor)\">BRUA Phase 3<\/a> supports bi-directional transport on the Bulgaria - Romania - Hungary - Austria corridor. The BRUA project also envisages the development of a gas pipeline from the Black Sea on the Tuzla - Podi\u0219or route in Romania.<\/p>\n<p>The BRUA Phase 3 project is expected to take additional volumes of gas from the Black Sea coast (which will not be taken by the corridor created by BRUA Phase 2). BRUA also means a route to European markets for the production of natural gas extracted by our country from the Black Sea,\" according to <a href=\"https:\/\/financialintelligence.ro\/transgaz-a-reusit-implementarea-proiectului-brua-faza-1-cu-o-economie-de-11-fata-de-valoarea-bugetata-initial\/\">Transgaz statements<\/a>.  The construction of new pipelines is carried out with minimal impact on the environment, often only temporarily during the actual works.<\/li>\n<li>Helps secure gas supplies in the region in the event of disruption of Russian gas supplies. It is a step towards energy independence from Russia and an asset for regional stability.<\/li>\n<li>BRUA is a model of successful regional collaboration and strengthening good neighbourly relations with economic benefits.  BRUA is part of <strong>Vertical corridor,\u00a0<\/strong>an initiative to interconnect the gas networks of Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Austria in order to take over part of the gas volumes that could be available through the Southern Corridor infrastructure. The components of the Vertical Corridor are:<\/li>\n<li>Greece-Bulgaria interconnector<\/li>\n<li>Romania-Bulgaria Interconnector<\/li>\n<li>BRUA.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/brua-viitorul-energiei.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" class=\"wp-image-6345\" src=\"https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/brua-viitorul-energiei.jpeg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/brua-viitorul-energiei.jpeg 960w, https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/brua-viitorul-energiei-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/viitorulenergiei.ro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/brua-viitorul-energiei-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo source: <a title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.transgaz.ro\/ro\/despre-noi\/prezentare-companie\/galerie-foto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transgaz <\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>How was BRUA Phase 1 conducted?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/isc.gov.ro\/Proiectul%20BRUA.html\">Reception on completion<\/a> The works related to the investment Development of the National Natural Gas Transmission System on the Bulgaria-Romania-Hungary-Austria corridor in Romania took place on 16.08.2021 in Podi\u0219or, Giurgiu county.<\/p>\n<p>Transgaz has successfully implemented the BRUA phase 1 project with a <a href=\"https:\/\/financialintelligence.ro\/transgaz-a-reusit-implementarea-proiectului-brua-faza-1-cu-o-economie-de-11-fata-de-valoarea-bugetata-initial\/\">economy of 11%<\/a> compared to the amount initially budgeted, mainly as a result of concluding contracts through transparent procurement procedures in a competitive environment, which led to contracts being awarded below the estimated value.<\/p>\n<p>The BRUA Phase 1 pipeline currently has all of its transmission capacity reserved in the direction to Hungary via the interconnection point at Csan\u00e1dpalota (Hungary) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.energynomics.ro\/ion-sterian-transgaz-urmeaza-investitii-de-32-miliarde-de-euro-pana-in-2031\/\">transits natural gas entering Romania from Bulgaria<\/a>, according to Transgaz Director General Ion Sterian.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evolution <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transgaz.ro\/sites\/default\/files\/uploads\/users\/admin\/brosura_informativa_pentru_proiectul_brua_faza_2_final_24_05_17_0.pdf\"><strong>Phase 2 of the BRUA project<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>BRUA Phase 2 has been included in the fifth list of projects of common interest, together with other Romanian projects such as the Depomures Underground Gas Storage Facility and the Bilciures Underground Gas Storage Facility.<\/p>\n<p>After adoption by the European Commission, the fifth list of projects of common interest will be sent to the European Parliament and the European Council for the acceptance procedure.
