On 23 April, the first edition of the "Viitorul Energiei. Viitorul Tău.", organized by Oil and Gas Employers Federation (FPPG), where students get a first contact with the energy sector, through meetings with specialists in this field, who present their career path and vision of the field.
The guest of the first edition was Oana Ijdelea, Managing Partner at Ijdelea & Associates and the Director of the Legal Department of the Black Sea Oil & Gas, the central figure in the legal aspects of significant projects. These culminated in one of Romania's greatest achievements after the revolution: the extraction of natural gas from the Black Sea, from the Doina and Ana fields. The first gas was delivered to the National Transmission System on 15 June 2022.
Oana Ijdelea tackled topics of interest to young people: what sustainability means globally, how to remain competitive in the face of unequal global concerns about carbon emissions and the tandem between fossil fuel-based energy and renewables. This edition was moderated by Daniel Apostol, Director General of the Oil and Gas Employers Federation, who spoke about new technologies that the oil and gas industry is using to support the energy transition.
Paradoxes of the energy transition
One of the questions of the moment, also asked by the young participants, is "Which products are truly sustainable?" This dilemma of the present, of how to ensure both sustainability and economic continuity in the face of climate objectives, was one of the topics discussed.

How do you choose a field of work that offers long-term job satisfaction? Oana Ijdelea generously offered examples from her personal experience, sharing details of her professional journey between law school and the energy sector.

Involving the younger generation
"You need statisticians, economists, smart brains to do the modelling.",
explained Daniel Apostol, Director General of the Oil and Gas Federation, referring to how the new generation of graduates from the Academy of Economic Studies can get involved in the smooth running of the energy transition. Young people can help implement new technologies, supported by the oil and gas sector, including CCS (capture, transport and storage of CO₂).
